This is AWESOME BOOK. If you looking for complete handbook, Check this out. I went to film school, i work in film industry and i have TONS of production books but noting came close to this one. But again book is book. You lean more when you do it but this is a guide line that very helpful. I bought one for myself and one for my friend. I think if you have limit budget, get this book.
I purchased this as I started to produce indie projects. There is so much information and all of the info here trumps whatever you can find on Wiki. Even the forms that are available online to download are extremely helpful. If you're new to working on union projects, this is your go-to. If not, this is still your go-to. As often as info and facts change lately, this book will continue to be relevant for some time to come.
I have been a cable television and commercial advertisement Producer for over 20 years, but will soon be working as a Production Manager on a low budget feature, so I thought I'd order this book and brush up on my skills. This book is very comprehensive and covers, or least gives a detailed overview of, every aspect of movie production. Suitable for students as well as seasoned professionals, the book is worth the purchase price for the library of on-line production forms alone. Highly recommended!

Mark is a busy guy in `the biz,' having done almost a hundred films and TV shows, including episodes of Murder She Wrote, Fat Actress, Six Feet Under, as well as the features Dreamgirls and The Quickie (overlooked and much-recommended) - so his advice is key.Turns out that Eve and Mark have been friends for a couple of decades, since they met on a film when Eve was a Production Coordinator. This is a guide of use for any producer of films, for a business person this is a very nice book about the business aspects for filmmaking. If a person has not been trained on legal, HRM, financial, communication, and marketing aspects in business training this book can seem heavy, but it's not really if you have business language knowledge. It's great with a pre to post production chart, p.2 through 6, of leaders with the business and their tasks in a normal production. It has a guide to the Union contract and legal forms that are part of the production also. Every word of information is valuable as guidance for Production Companies, production office managers, indie filmmakers, and independent entertainment artists. This is a very valuable tool for planning and organizing the business behind the artistry of film production. The newest of these books The Complete Film Production Handbook (American Film Market Presents) likely with a pass-code link to the forms on the site, which are likely to be updated accurately. But with plans to work in sights off the grid, I need to get an addition with the disc because I lost the disc AND, bad me, didn't have it duplicated so getting another is needed.
If you intend to be a producer (I don't, but it helps to understand every aspect of the business), then you really need to get off your keister and get a copy of this book. It covers everything from pre-production to film festivals, hiring talent to marketing, the almighty back-end deal to selling your soul. It's all right here, so get it. You won't be sorry.
This is the best book for film production out there. I've read multiple books on producing and this is the most comprehensive and up-to-date. A MUST for any producer.
